Perfect Day by Lou Reed is one of my favorite songs of all time. I have to admit the first time I heard it was on the Trainspotting soundtrack, but it grabbed me immediately and became a song that I listened to on repeat. A few years later I heard Chris Whitley's version, which also became a regular companion on my late night drives. The simple everyday events depicted in the song are an illustration of how "perfect" does not always mean flawless, In fact Roget's International Thesaurus doesn't even list flawless as a synonym but instead it lists "fully realized" and "complete".
