We made it! Photos from our Drive to California

Hello from California! Marie and I are in Wilseyville, CA where we will live temporarily while we look for a home and jobs in the Sacramento area. The journey was not without excitement. On day 2, while crossing the Rocky Mountains, I had to call roadside assistance because the truck's transmission was acting strange. Luckily the mechanic said everything was fine and took me on a little drive to teach me how to shift-down when going down the steep declines. On day 3, just as we entered the Utah desert, Marie's A/C died, so we switched vehicles and I drove it the rest of the way through Utah in the 107 degree heat. That same evening, only 40 minutes from Salt Lake City, the truck got a flat tire and we had to wait by the side of the highway for two hours, for roadside assistance to come and change the tire.

I am proud of how we handled the travel hiccups. To me it seemed as though our commitment was being tested. It would have been so comfortable and easy to have stayed in Omaha, where we have friends and an infrastructure of support, but we both feel like there's much in California, waiting to teach us and help us grow.

I hope you enjoy these photos from our trip.
