Omaha Music Scene: Print Publications

My favorite print publications for keeping in touch with the Omaha music scene are GO, The Reader, ENCOUNTER and FOCUS. They're all really great at exposing new talent and providing updates on the established names. I usually pick up my copies at Hardy Coffee Co. in Benson or in the entrance of Hy-Vee on Cass Street.

ENCOUNTER is a bi-monthly arts & culture publication owned by OMAHA Magazine. The layout is well-done and the photography is breathtaking. They cover everything related to the Arts including music, visual art and fashion.

FOCUS  is a weekly publication that covers art & music as well as personal finance and classifieds. The LOCAL and LIVE sections are helpful in showcasing the bands that are actively performing in the area.

The Reader is published monthly and has some of Omaha's most experienced and talented writers including Tim McMahan (Lazy-i.com), B.J. Huchtemann (Hoodoo Blues) and the Backbeat column written by the staff at HearNebraska.org

GO is published every Thursday by the Omaha World Herald and features Arts & Entertainment options for the upcoming week (Community Events, Movies, Music, Theater, Art and more).
