"My Dying Day", the second single from my upcoming album 'Living On a Sliver', was written after a lunch I had with a couple old friends from my hometown of Papillion, Nebraska. It's about the loyalty and pride of someone who never leaves their hometown, lives their whole life there, and dies there.
I had a different experience, having moved to Minnesota and back, and feeling like my world had opened up as a result of that. I think it's really admirable and inspiring when people come from small towns, go out and explore and open up their worldview and then come back and invest their experiences in their hometown.
I'll always be proud of where I'm from, and I still keep in touch with friends, teachers, and family from Papillion.
